The Gene Therapy group is seeking to hire a Scientist II to become an integral part of the gene therapy drug development effort. We seek candidates who think critically and have the desire and ability to learn new techniques. This position requires adaptability and an ability to perform at a high level in a fast-paced environment. A qualified candidate will have broad technical experience in immunohistochemistry and image analysis. In this position, you will manage a team to characterize the delivery and expression of transgenic constructs in animal tissues and in vitro cellular models. You will Independently design and execute complex studies, analyze and interpret data, and communicate findings to both scientists and broad audiences.

Qualifications:

  • PhD degree in biological sciences (e.g. Molecular and Cell Biology, Pathology, Neuroscience or related field) with 3-5 years of relevant postgraduate research experience in an industry setting, or MS degree with 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in overseeing and managing a high functioning team of biologists responsible for histological analysis of complex tissues.
  • Creativity and the ability to work within an interdisciplinary team to achieve technical and corporate milestones.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Outstanding time management skills across multiple projects.

Technical Requirements and Skills:

  • Initiate/lead complex projects and collaborate cross-functionally and/or externally.
  • Mentor more junior scientists in the lab and on project teams.
  • Strong technical expertise in histology, microanatomy, immunohistochemistry, RNAscope/ISH including expertise with quantitative image analysis (Visiopharm, HALO, Imaris, ImageJ, QuPath).
  • Previous experience using high-throughput methods including autostainers (i.e. Leica Bond) and slide scanners (i.e. Evident VS200).
  • Familiarity with research records keeping and sample management utilizing ELNs (i.e. Benchling).
  • Significantly contribute to patent filings, diligence reports, primary research publications, and/or regulatory documents.
