Our client is a leading biotechnology company developing innovative, enzyme-based therapies designed to improve the delivery and absorption of biologics.
Job Responsibilities:
In this role, you will manage core accounting functions and support financial reporting processes in a biotechnology environment. Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing general ledger areas including:
- Partner invoicing and vendor accounts
- Fixed assets and lease accounting
- Cash, investments, and treasury management
- R&D, SG&A, and outsourced manufacturing contracts
- Royalties, prepaids, and deferred revenue
- Leading month-end and quarter-end close activities
- Reviewing and approving journal entries and account reconciliations
- Ensuring compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and SOX requirements
- Supporting financial audits and tax preparation
Essential Duties and Job Functions:
- Train, develop, and mentor direct reports within the accounting team
- Review vendor setup in accounting systems and AP platforms
- Work cross-functionally with project managers and external vendors to manage accruals
- Monitor fixed asset activity including additions, disposals, and construction in progress
- Maintain lease amortization schedules and approve lease-related entries
- Manage treasury processes including bank reconciliations and investment entries
- Review and validate deferred revenue reconciliations and space allocation entries
- Collaborate with internal teams and external auditors to support SOX 404 compliance
- Prepare financial schedules for quarterly reviews, annual audits, and tax filings
- Contribute to ongoing improvements in financial processes and reporting
Knowledge & Skills:
- Proficiency in GAAP, financial reporting, and internal control procedures
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Capable of maintaining confidentiality and working independently
- Ability to collaborate across departments and with external auditors and consultants
- Familiarity with accounting systems (Great Plains preferred) and Microsoft Office
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum of 6 years of accounting experience
- 3+ years of management experience preferred
- CPA license and/or public accounting (Big Four) experience preferred
- Experience with SOX compliance, public companies, or multinational organizations
- Industry experience in biotechnology or pharmaceuticals highly desirable
