Pay range:$50.00 - $56.00 per hour




The Senior Accountant 1 is responsible for key areas of general ledger accounting, including lease accounting, debt and intercompany transactions. This role involves preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, managing reconciliation systems (e.g., Blackline), and supporting both quarter-end and year-end closing activities. The position requires collaboration across internal departments, interaction with external auditors and SOX consultants, as well as coordination with third-party service providers.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Execute monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations for debt, intercompany activity, lease obligations, cost allocations, and international operations.
  • Conduct initial reviews of treasury and investment activity and prepare related disclosure reports, including transaction entries and reconciliations.
  • Compile support data for property tax and sales tax filings.
  • Administer account reconciliations and journal entry processes, including oversight of reconciliation software (e.g., Blackline).
  • Prepare supporting documentation for SEC filings, annual audits, and tax returns.
  • Identify and implement process improvements in assigned areas, focusing on efficiency and internal control enhancements.
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience preferred, ideally with a mix of public accounting and industry exposure (biotech experience is a plus).
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
  • Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP; CPA certification is a plus.
  • Experience with accounting software; familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains is a plus.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
