A Scientist 2 position is available to support daily operations in a biorepository, focusing on sample preparation and services for project teams. The role involves performing complex experiments, troubleshooting technical issues, and documenting results in electronic lab notebooks. The scientist will work cross-functionally with teams to manage nucleic acid extraction, qualification, and quantification processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct experiments involving nucleic acid extraction from FFPE, blood, plasma, and cell lines
- Perform sample quantification using fluorometric methods, qPCR, and size selection techniques
- Maintain detailed technical documentation and lab notes
- Plan and analyze experiments to optimize processes or resolve challenges
- Maintain cell cultures, especially mammalian cancer cell lines, and ensure sterile techniques
- Handle lab upkeep, equipment maintenance, and supply restocking
Required Qualifications:
- Expertise in nucleic acid extraction and quality control techniques (e.g., Nanodrop, qPCR, Quibit)
- Proficient in cell culture and maintaining sterile lab environments
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across disciplines
- Experience with inventory systems like SAP or BSI
Preferred Skills:
- Flow cytometry
- Single-cell RNA sequencing
- Bacterial culture and bioburden testing
- Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of experience or equivalent background
