Indirect Procurement Consultant

Boston, MA/Hybrid

Schedule: Standard Office Hours

Duration: 6-Month Contract (opportunity to extend)

Pay:$63-68/ph



Client Overview:

Our client is a biotechnology company focused on developing and commercializing innovative therapies for patients with serious diseases. They specialize in the development of enzyme-based therapies, primarily utilizing proprietary technology that enhances the delivery and absorption of biologics. The company collaborates with leading pharmaceutical companies to create solutions that address unmet medical needs in oncology, diabetes, and other areas.



Job Responsibilities:

In this role, you will support the procurement needs of the organization by collaborating with Business Partners to understand their priorities and develop initiatives that drive business success. Key responsibilities include:

  • Category Management & Sourcing Strategy:
    • Develop and implement sourcing strategies for Indirect Categories.
    • Conduct market research to support category strategies and sourcing activities.
    • Translate data into relevant and actionable insights.
  • Supplier Relationship & Performance Management:
    • Manage strategic supplier relationships, including Supplier Performance and Executive Business Reviews.
    • Lead complex supplier negotiations, ensuring alignment with internal stakeholders, including Business Partners, Finance, and Legal.
  • Risk Management & Compliance:
    • Support Business Owners in identifying risks during the sourcing process.
    • Collaborate with Risk Subject Matter Experts to assess risks and develop mitigation plans as needed.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Partner closely with cross-functional teams to support strategic sourcing initiatives.
    • Cultivate strong business partner relationships through earned respect and trust.

Essential Duties and Job Functions:

  • Drive the development and implementation of sourcing strategies for indirect procurement.
  • Conduct thorough market research to inform category strategies and sourcing activities.
  • Manage strategic supplier relationships, including Executive Business Reviews.
  • Ensure alignment with internal stakeholders during complex contract negotiations.
  • Identify and assess risks as part of the sourcing process, developing mitigation plans when necessary.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Business Partners, Finance, and Legal.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong understanding of indirect procurement categories and sourcing strategies.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing complex supplier negotiations.
  • Good understanding of regulated environments and compliance requirements.
  • AI-ready mindset with an interest in exploring AI opportunities within the procurement space.
  • Excellent analytical skills, project management abilities, and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity with a Can-Do mindset and innovative problem-solving.
  • Proven track record of building productive internal and external working relationships.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Advanced degree (MS or MBA) in a Scientific or Business discipline preferred.
  • Proven experience in Business Services Procurement, with deep knowledge of Indirect Categories.
  • Experience in a regulated environment is preferred.
